Hi all,

I just bought a laptop with an i5-10210U processor. Minimum installation requirements for the latest ubuntu call for 2.0 GHz dual core processor. Apparently, mine is a 1.60 GHz quad core processor. Do any of you foresee issues or will this be sufficient? TIA.

short answer - broken shoulder :)

no

The 1.6 GHz is your processors minimum speed, it's able to clock way higher than this when needed.
So it is defenetly fine, I also got Ubuntu run on an I5 of the second generation, so it will run on one of the 10th like yours.

Well, I have an Acer Aspire E5-575 laptop with an Intel Core i5-6200U cpu and Intel HD Graphics 520 and about 6 Gigs of RAM (I think). Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon runs perfectly on it!

According to Intel that processor is capable of a max 4.20 GHz. I think Ubuntu will run just fine on that machine.
From the Intel page for that processor:

Yes, very definitely and absolutely!

While there are distros that target really low spec Celeron and even Pentium machines these days, for a modern *buntu an i5 of any generation will work great. I recently upgraded my desktop unit from a Core 2 Duo CPU to a 6th gen i5, perked it right up!

In fact when the next Kubuntu LTS comes out both my physical drives will be upgraded to SSDs (one is a spinner right now), and that should take of as much hardware changes as it will need for along time to come.

of course yes, this processor is Debian/Ubuntu/LinuxMint capable do not worry.
Just go ahead
