Hello,

I have tried to get Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon on my Ideapad as I want to transition into using Linux and don't want to put it on my gaming computer just yet.

I have tried everything I can think of and indeed what everyone else suggests on forums, youtube etc.. No matter what I try it just does not work.

I have made CDs and USB's to no avail. It only seems to recognize windows.

The bios is basic and only boots EUFI, there is no option (that I can see) which allows you to boot in legacy.

Any help would be amazing.

Just an update to fix this issue I just made a folder called EFI then boot within that and copied the bootia32.efi into the boot folder.

Have you been able to go into the BIOS and make the USB device the first choice in the boot menu?

If this is your Lenovo ideapad at the top of this Google search you only have 2048 MB of RAM.

Linux Mint requires 1 GB of RAM and a x86 processor.

Is your computers architecture 32-bit or 64-bit?

Mint is too heavy for your machine so you might want to try a more lightweight distro like MX Linux or Puppy Linux.

After reading the article that our Moderator posted for you it doesn't look like installing Linux will be easy because your pc has 32-bit UEFI.

"Secure Boot can be turned off, but installing Linux on such computer won't be easy as it has 32-bit UEFI (while the OS and the CPU are 64 bit)"

Secure boot is under the "Security" tab:-

Did you hold down the shift key when Windows restarted so you can choose another boot device?

Did you shrink your Windows partition to make room for your Linux install?
