i want to switch to linux , i want to buy a laptop for programming . i searched for linux laptops there are many options i am confused . so , i was thinking can i get help from those who already has one . i am looking forward to these minimum specs core i5 and above , 8 gb + , 15.0 + screen hd , fhd . Can you suggest me a good laptop ( not neccessary that it should content these specs ) . i want a laptop which will be fast for programming purposes ..... and the budget is around 700 dollars not more than that .. THANKS :)

I'd go about this journey by first looking for a laptop you'd like.. then put linux on it. You don't have to purchase a laptop w/ linux already on it.
Wouldn't it be better if I have Linux pre installed instead of installing Linux . Does that makes difference or it's the same .
Thanks for replying btw

We live in a Windows world for consumer users, highly doubtful you'll find pre-installed Linux device. That's a system for enthusiasts with so many distros available.

If you have $ to throw around, you could certainly get some nice hardware with Linux pre-installed, but they're generally expensive because the companies doing that are aiming at companies buying laptops for their employees..

I'd say 99% of linux/laptop users installed it over (or next to) a windows system. If I were you, i'd find a nice, used dell xps 13 on ebay for $500ish and throw Ubuntu or Fedora on it.. see how you like it, then try another distro until you land on something you feel fits you.

I don't own one but I have heard that the Dell XPS 13 is a very good machine which comes with Linux preinstalled.
