Hi All! Im trying to return to linux :) and the release of the latest debian 10 has been a good excuse jajaja
I have tried to do the installation on my laptot, I downloaded the img files into a usb and started the installation from there.
My configuration:
the laptop (pavilion HP) has a primary disk SSD, and a secondary disk, the old and original drive of the machine.
Since the re is not much space into the SSD disk, I did the partitions into the secondary disk drive, you can see them in the screenshot:
4409

(the partitions actually are blanck but because of a failed grup installation I think)

The problem I have is that the installation doesnt find the disk, neiter the SSD nor the normal one. Look like grup has some problem there so the installation after all steps fails.

Any help here? Do I need to change anything?

Thanks in advance for the help

Bios decorated with USB boot ?
And maybe see after setting SATA Controller Mode to Enhanced if you can see the disks.

Im not that skilled: how do I set SATA controller mode to enhanced?

Grub won't install?
You install linux on this other disk ?

Maybe prepare the pendrive again.

But I dont ant to run Debian from a USB unit, I want to installi it on my hard drive. The USB works fine

You install Debian on the second disk?
The motherboard has UEFI?

Yes, Im trying to do that, install it on the secondary disk. Yes, my bios has UEFI

See it maybe help:
(Swap is half the Ram you have, if you have above 4gb frames you don't have to create, server swap = 2x RAM. )

When you start the installation it should ask you which drive you would like to install to.
Also, I see that your swap partition is 31GB's.

I have been running Linux for many years and have always created a 1-2 GB swap and everything's been fine.

What's your plan for the unallocated space?

Is the 65.17 GB partition the partition you wish to install Debian on?

Well, it is solved now. What I did is: I downloaded the newtwork installation image, and save it into a USB. I launched the installation through the USB and the installation completed succesfully. Even GRUP seems to have been installed.
The only problem I see now is that when booting the machine, grub doesnt show up, so windows starts automatically. If I wanto to boot Debian, I have to enter into the bios, choose and option "boor from uefi file", inside that I can see GRUB, so I launch that , GRUB appears, and givs me the choice to launch win or Debian.
I will try to fix that now.

Glad to hear you were able to install Debian. Congrads.

To fix Grub just boot into Debian and run
sudo update-grub

That should fix it and make it so that you can choose Windows or Debian with your arrow keys.
