This is my first post but I'm struggling to find anything about it. How do I copy the contents of a bootable USB to my hard drive so that I may load it into another USB at a later time. I continue to receive the error cannot copy because it is mountable

G'day Jay, and Welcome to linux.org

Make the usb non bootable. Just load the iso to the usb without using a program to make it bootable.

You can then load that bunch of files to another usb at a later time.

Why would you not be able to simply download that iso at a later time...?....or have I misunderstood ?

Thank you for your response, I am often in areas where cell service as well as internet access is impossible for extended periods of time. I would like to keep copies of distros available on a separate hard drive for those times.

Honestly feel like a noob now, I always overlook the simplest answers. Thanks again for your fast response

All good....no need to feel noobish around here.....in one way or another we all are......me included.

Cell service and internet access being on the blink sounds very much like you are in the Australian outback !

Have you considered buying a few usb drives (thumb drives)...loading them with whatever distros you need....and carrying them with you. If you make them bootable with persistence, they can 'save' up to 4GB of data each (make your thumb drives 8GB to cope with this)
