I used to only have two languages for spellchecking in Firefox, but after installing Zorin OS which comes with Firefox, I have many languages to choose from if I right click in this post, for example. Spellchecking is enabled and under that there are lots of languages. I don't need everything from Afrikaans to Spanish. Just two languages to switch between.

How to I get rid of all the others?

I actually did that, but they still show up when I right click to switch between languages.

Not an immediate answer, but I have Zorin 15 downloaded, with a view to seeing what warrants the jump from v12 to v15, should have it on around the weekend.

Will take a look and report back, unless an answer is found sooner. :)

I have a serious distro hopping problem. My Zorin 15 kept having 3G connection problems. Firefox loading blanks and then all of a sudden working again. Down went my hand, no reaching for a bottle of bear, but instead for a DVD with another Linux disro on it, in the desk drawer.

I now just started of with English(United States) and added just one more language in the add-ons.

I would still like to now why so many languages in Firefox on Zorin 15.

Currently I am using Ugly Betty Linux(Lubuntu) again and settling down for at least a month. Not a beauty queen but so dependable.

PS Is there a distro hopper anonymous section somewhere on Linux.org?

We have all done that and some still do.

I like Ubuntu and Ubuntu flavors and I like Debian based Linux distros.

You should give Peppermint 10 a look at it's solid and Ubuntu based.

Nope you are SOL.

I have Peppermint 10 and it is quite good, I have been using them since 6.

With Peppermint, if you use word processing &c, you will have to install LIbre Office (or other choice).

Do you think you will need therapy? :) That comes at an extra cost.

OK Tom, you've got me ...what is SOL?

Thanks so much for all the advice, Poorguy. I used Zorin 9 for years, based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Now Zorin 15 has problems with my 3G connection and I could not even download Ubuntu 18.04 LTS because Firefox told me it will take days or 6 hours.

Then I just installed Lubuntu 18.04 LTS and the 3G internet worked fine all times of the day.

Today, like in sunshine time here, I just used AbiWord to make a claim for my mother to a medical fund. I went outside to hang the washing and came back and the screen was black. Lubuntu went to sleep and I tried everything to wake it up but had to pull the plug.

After that I switched off the go to sleep setting in power management and went to Abiword and all my work was gone. I though it's supposed to auto-save every five minutes.

I will just use Google docs instead that saved every time I change something.

I will just stick with Lubuntu for now and see if I can download Ubuntu 18.04 LTS at the weekend. My PC could probably handle it and it's easy to use.

I don't like the interface too much but as long as it wroks I don't care too much. Sometimes when people mess up Ubuntu trying to make it look or act differently like the beautiful Zorin 15 with Gnome desktop.

I have Peppermint 10

Lubuntu 18.04 LTS works well. The default power settings just made it go to sleep while I was hanging the washing. It didn't want to wake up and I had to pull the plug. After that I just switched off that setting. It's just on blank screen now.

What am I supposed to do to Lazares Linux under normal circumstances. No offense to Jesus.

This may help.

You may also try an older release of Ubuntu18.04.1 from this link. although I don't know if it changes to the newer 4.18 kernels.

I don't know if it loads the newer 4.18 kernel.
Iwouldn't think it would although uncertain although worth a teat drive imo.

I am using Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS now, so far so good. Beatings drums was a surprise.

Do you think it's save to use shell extensions like "Hide Top bar"?

It's not a big deal and I have already hid the dock thing to my left. Just like bars to hide when not in use.

I've never used shell extensions

I tried that "Hide top bar" thing, but it doesn't want to auto-hide the top bar anyway. No big deal.

I have installed Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS and the layout is weird but the wallpaper is so beautiful.

This is more than an observation than a problem, but the internet icon keeps showing a question mark but the internet continue to work. Zorin 15 did the same but the internet performance was erratic.
