Hello. Originally I am from the Skylands of NW NJ, USA. Currently, I call East Texas my home. I enjoy tinkering with computers, and operating systems. And usually, I do manage to get myself in way over my head. I have used various linux operating systems off and on over the years, but strictly as a gui user. I kept my distance from anything command line. Figured it was time to learn and get comfortable playing in the mysterious black box with all the cryptic symbols. For those who replied on my dual boot bios flash issue, thank you for the help and the humor.
I look forward to my adventures on this knowledge quest.

Welcome Eugor, Rest assured the humor will continue.

Heaven help you learning the command side/black box....but again rest assured, there is help at hand.

Aah, the dreaded black box :D (the humour continues, Brian)

It has pearls within its embrace that can be harvested for your use.

Hard to guess, but I may spend as much as 50 - 50 %age wise between GUI and command line.

Handy for when you brick your GUI :D

Avagudweegend, and enjoy your Linux, Eugor

Honestly, all you gotta do is just copy and paste command lines online to get what you want and eventually over time, you'll start to pick up on what's happening really quickly. So I wouldn't be too worried about the black box. Just use it when you need it for special occasions.

DreamyAbaddon,
Thank you for the encouragement. But, I think I have pussyfooted around in the shallow end for long enough. I have a couple of beater boxes here in the Tinkertown Garage that I can experiment with and not worry about messing up my daily drivers. Even if I let the smoke out of them, and the don't work no more, it'll be ok. I appreciate your reply

Well I'm a Linux noob and I use Linux casually as a basic user. So I don't know too much.
All I do is copy and paste lines and things just work magically and I picked up on some of it so I just figured to share a little of my experience and see if it will help you be less worried about getting into that sorta stuff.

Here's a Wizard first (I think)

Terminal does not generate a terminal illness

:):)

Enjoy ;)
