Hello all,
I recently installed Debian 9 on my laptop. Everything is good except that HDMI devices that I plug in after the computer has already booted are not recognized at all. However, if the device is plugged in before starting the computer, then it works fine. I googled around and found out xrandr command. Here's it's output if it helps.

xrandr command output when HDMI is not plugged in or when the device is plugged after booting (no difference):

preach@preach-debian:~$ xrandr

Is there any way that I could set it up so that I can plug and use the HDMI monitors while the computer is already running?

Any help will be appreciated!

So is it just the video that is affected, how is sound?

G'day @Pramod Herath and welcome to linux.org :)

I won't likely have the answer for you, but I am moving this Thread to Audio/Video, which usually provides more answers for HDMI questions.

Good luck

Thank you for the help! And a very good day to you too!
I've only tested it for video. But I think it's mostly likely both. Because my computer doesn't seem to even recognize an HDMI device is attached.
