Anyway, I moved now, but at my previous residence, I joined a site called malwareup.org, and was not on there for long until I got into a debate with multiple Windows fanboys about Linux, and..... Some of them DOXed me, and I KNOW the Admin of the Website gave them my IP, so they learned where I lived..... They can find out what I post by doing a simple Google search now..... Anyway, when they found out where I lived, I bluffed them by pretending I was behind a proxy, which resulted in an Admin BANNING me..... Geez..... Well, this was a WHILE ago now, but still..... Could they find out where I now live without the help of an Admin.....?
 


Never give out your IP address to anyone on the web I do not care if you know them. With it I could find you also even on forums.
If I were you I would not go back to that site again. If you have moved and have a new service with a new C class address 192.168.x.x than they might of lost you. you can change your IP address in your router setup if you use a router. If not you can have your service provider change it for you if you still have the same IP address Why do you need that site anyway?

192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
All three of these, Non-Routable address ranges are for use in a private, (Local) LAN Network. NONE of these addresses can be seen over the Internet. Your router translates one or more of these LAN addresses at your location to the Routable WAN address that is exposed to the Internet.

Your WAN address is exposed to the Internet though the services you use, such as a DNS lookup, web site access, etc... You would have to use a Proxy Server to hide your WAN IP address.

Ok..... :( So, how did they know where I lived at that time, though.....? Thanks for your help, good Penguin-sir..... :3 *Sigh*, SO much I don't know.......

It's called Geolocation. Using sites like "IP Location", I was able to locate the correct ISP, and the correct neighborhood of the correct borough of the City of New York, that I am accessing the Internet from when writing this. To get the actual address, for a home user, you would need to then gain access to the ISP's computer system to look up what router was assigned the IP address, and the physical address where the router is located, but that would be illegal. It might be easier to locate you if accessing the Internet from a business using a statically assigned single, or range of IP address(es).

If you are in a small town or using a small local ISP, your location might be narrowed even more.

If you really need to hide your location for whatever reason, then you need to sign up with a proxy server. I have never needed or used these so I cannot speak about their usability, security, or reliability. Several of these site lists are available. Three of them are listed here:

Thank you, good Scottish Penguin sir..... :3 I suppose it WOULD be harder, since I don't use any local ISPs though..... Malwareup actually had some fights in the past with a rival Site once, likely as a series of Crack Attacks..... I made up that term just now..... :D Yes, it's Free and Open Source..... :3

Possibly, but it appears they bought my bluff, since I got banned by the Admin.... XD By the way, why do some people like to ban others for not wanting to broadcast their location.......? :(

Both would protect your location from being seen. The VPN would encrypt all data being sent and received, but a basic proxy would not encrypt the data. I have never used either for this purpose. Sounds like the site would have been a good one to stay completely away from. The so-called "Admin" should NEVER have revealed ANY personal information to ANYONE. I don't know why he would have been banned from the site. I would need to see the TOS.

Any respectable forum Admin keeps IP addresses private for all users of the site. The only time I look at the IP addresses of members here, for example, is when I add spammers to stopforumspam.com

If you are afraid that your location may be compromised in a bad way, consider a Proxy and possibly TOR

Can I use TOR with other Browsers than just Firefox.....? 'Cuz I use it with Chrome, Chromium, and on Windows, Chrome Canary..... :3 Also, that makes me glad to be on here..... You guys aren't *expletive*-wads..... :3 Yeah, I used "expletive" since some youngins are probably on this site..... :D

No. TOR is for use with the TOR browser. There may be plugins for other browsers but I would not use them.

That defeats the purpose of TOR. Pure anonymity which really can't be gotten with other browsers.
