I have seen a ton of screen recording software for ubuntu but anything for debian? I am looking for something that will record my voice and will save the video as a mp4. Ideas?

You can use Simple Screen Recorder but it will take some tweaking to get your voice.

There is also WebcamStudio that is pretty much designed for recording multiple inputs into a single output. But it is in development.

I use "recordmydesktop". It can record whole screen or only one windows with sound. The video file format is .ogv. We can use winff to convert this file format to avi, mp4 and other video format.
