While I have an account, I don't use it. I refuse to use it because they were too lax with my personal information and my email address (and likely password) was stolen. So, I don't want anything to do with their forum and I don't trust them with my personal information.

But, I did find a bug. If you're on a metered connection (or so it thinks, it's really unlimited) they disable automatic updates. They give you a menu with a button to open network settings. You can click on the button a dozen times and it does not open network settings.

I captured a screenshot.

That screen and that button. That button doesn't do a darned thing.

I joint the Mint forums' some 15 years ago, but didn't like the attitude shown to new members, so gave up after a couple of months.

I don't really like Mint enough to wade through their bug reporting process to figure out yet another bug reporting system. Though, it's probably not too hard if they use Git.

At the same time, I feel kinda obligated to report it.

I have a Linux Mint Forum account from way back when.

I don't care for Linux Mint forum and it's just not Linux Mint forum I also don't like some Debian forums.

It's nauseating the way some of the Linux Mint Forum members seem to worship Linux Mint and Clem Lefebvre.
After all it's just another Linux distro and nothing more.

It's as bad as Apple / Mac users used to think and perhaps still do think the sun rises and sets in Steve Jobs behind.
And again Apple / Mac ain't nothing special it's just another OS.

I never met or personally knew Steve Jobs however I liked Steve Jobs for who and what he was and did.

For whatever reasons, Linux attracts a lot of zealots - which I think can be tied to the whole open source thing, to some extent. It also attracts some pretty crazy people, again probably because it's open source and special.

It is what it is.

I am not much of a zealot. When folks ask me about a Windows problem, I don't tell them to use Linux. I just tell 'em I have no idea how to use modern Windows. I don't even much care about open source. I use all sorts of proprietary stuff.

As I've stated before, I use Linux 'cause it just works (for me). I prefer it, 'cause I can tell it to get out of my way and let me accomplish my goals without much interruption.

I have been a long time Mint Forum Member and they fix the personal info problems after they were hacked. Have had no problems since. Reporting the bug on the forum is about useless however as the Devs almost never read the forum. About the only way to get them to take action is to report the bug through the bug reporting system.

Yeah, I read that page and decided I just don't care that much. It's not an updated version, it's still 20.3 on that box. I suspect the same bug exists in the newer version, but I can't be stuffed to upgrade that box today to verify it. It's the kinda bug that exists for years, until just the right combination comes up - which is kinda what I do every day.

I have an account on that Forum...joined in 2016...been back twice in the last two years...a small group of members didn't like my Avatar even though it was within the rules.

Had to complain to Admin and those members were warned but the damage was done...it's a shame a small group spoils it for everyone else but all is good in my new home.

You know what they say... One bad apple spoils the bunch.

Some people behave online in ways they wouldn't behave in the real world, 'cause in the real world they'd get punched in the mouth.

The internet needs a 'slap button'. When someone does something violating netiquette, you push a button and a mechanic device slaps the user at the other end. Eternal September truly was eternal.

Yes, I am active on www.linuxmint.com ....sorta

Rather than posting there for any kind of help, I use the forum for answers....by perusing the knowledge base.

I have encountered lack of help, rudeness, and downright attitudinal problems there on a few occasions. Some of the attitude came from their senior staff. Therefore the place has more problems than it realises. They have let the problem attitudes there fester for an extended period of time, so it is now probably beyond help/redemption.
A great deal of their knowledge is seriously dated....and finding reasonably up to date stuff is more difficult than it should be (since 2018 would be good)
I dont give three flying thingoes if Clem is the bees knees there.....that is meaningless when you are surrounded by attitudinally challenged dipsticks.....wannabee Clems.

I could go on (and on) and give kudos and praise to the admin/mods/members here.....but they already know how damn good they are......and they prove that every single day.

Maybe some sort of electrical jolt - with with low amps, except it's cumulative. If you behave long enough it resets to zero, but it otherwise increases in voltage every time someone presses the zap/slap button on the other end.
