In some distro's (I don't know about SuSE right now) you have to update the kernel modules for certain apps.
Everytime I update my kernel, I have to install a new VirtualBox kernel module, and a new nVidia kernel module.

For Fedora you need these installed...
akmod-VirtualBox.x86_64 : Akmod package for VirtualBox kernel module(s)
kmod-VirtualBox.x86_64 : Metapackage which tracks in VirtualBox kernel module for newest kernel

My guess is there is something similar for SuSE. After that's done.. make sure you also install

virtualbox-guest-additions

Do you have secure boot enabled?

I wouldn't think it would matter for a VM. VirtualBox uses a "virtual" BIOS/UEFI.

I have a couple of Linux systems, I leave secure boot turned on. (Not VMs) Doesn't work with all distros.

It does. If you have Secure Boot enabled, it will ask you to sign some stuff during your next boot after installing VirtualBox.

(At least it does here.)

The last time I encountered it (a few months back), it reminded me to disable secure boot. Which meant I had to install again. This time, I didn't get asked to sign some stuff during the boot process.

The commands online had a lot of error messages and I forgot my bios boot key. I'm considering dual booting instead with a LIVE USB stick does anyone know how to do that on Ubuntu.

I wish I could help but I've never had this error...then again I don't have Secure Boot or installed open suse.
Is it possible you didn't install it correctly or your settings are wrong...it may be a problem in Ubuntu but I installed Ubuntu in Virtualbox yesterday without any problems. I did notice from the picture video memory is only 16MB...I set mine to 256MB...I don't use Ubuntu myself. ;)

I tried to create this error in my Ubuntu VM...changed video memory to 16MB...gave one GB of Ram...CPU to one core and a few other things but couldn't get this error...the only thing was it ran much slower. :)

Anyway I'm too lazy to change the settings back and don't like Ubuntu...so I deleted it...such it life.
