ubuntu hirsute Release (ISSUE)

Remove the repository. I'll show you why.

If you click that link, you can see that it hasn't been updated for a long time. So, there's no release candidate for hirsute. You'll have to install Banshee in another way, if it's still being worked on.

I can only agree with @KGIII

A quick look at https://launchpad.net/~banshee-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa will show it should never have been added.

PPA's are 3rd party sources (PPA = personal package archive) with all security checks needing to be performed by the person who decides to use them.

- Are they suitable for your release?
- Are they well maintained?
- Are they created by people I can trust? etc

With the last build 386 weeks ago, I'd not have added it to your system...

To add to the above from @guiverc, it's also useful to find project pages to see what's afoot.

In this case, we find the project's home located at https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/banshee and there you can see that development has pretty much stopped.

So, what does this mean? It means you need to find an alternative. There are many, many media players out there with various features. You should be able to find something that tickles your fancy.

@zero-wine, if you don't know what the above means, it means you have a fairly limited amount of time to upgrade to the next version - 21.10, as you're on interim releases. If you don't, the OS will stop getting updates and, after a fairly small period of time, will no longer be able to upgrade at all as the servers are taken down/repurposed. Using an out-of-support release is a horrible idea, especially if it's connected to the 'net.

It’s all good now. I have upgraded to 21.10 and have solved all of my issues now. Thanks for all the advice.

Congrats! 22.04 is what we're working on right now. It'll be a long-term-stable release, which you might want to consider sticking with for a couple of years - assuming all works well.
