New linux user and install help please

can't even get into the bios.
after scouring the repair manual for your machine, the instructions are.. switch off , switch on and immediately press and hold down F10 [you only have a couple of seconds to do this]

welp. i can't get into my bios at all no matter how hard i try. i have been struggling with hackers. i hope somebody who's familiar with this bootloader can give me some advice right now. im sure i didnt install over my windows partitions im far from an idiot and very familiar with computers.

i am totally struggling with this. im installed it in legacy mode instead of uefi. so im having trouble accessing the bootloader.

can somebody show me how to run conan exiles on this pop os really quickly? give me the cmd lines or something?

okay i think i figured it out everybody.
check my work.
when i installed linux into the partitions i made a boot partition instead of a linux-swap partition. is that what i did wrong?

I have been reading up on this all morning
did you read and follow the instructions for installing POP ????
if pop opens and runs ok , you may not have completed the install procedure

Updating GRUB

You may have noticed your system booted directly into the Linux partition without the Windows 10 option. Now we will update our system and help GRUB recognize the Windows partition.

1. Update Your System

Boot into Pop os

Open a terminal and run the following commands:

sudo apt update

sudo apt upgrade

2. Installing OS-Prober

Now we will install a tool to help Pop!_OS recognize the Windows partition.

Run the following commands:

sudo apt install os-prober

sudo os-prober

You should see something similar to /dev/sda#:Windows 10:Windows;chain

Run this command so GRUB can update with the new partition data:

sudo update-grub

Dual Boot Complete!

Now when you restart your computer you will be greeted with the GRUB boot loader on start-up. You will be able to select the partition to boot into. By default it will be set to Pop!_OS so you will have a few seconds to select Windows before it automatically boots into Pop!_OS.

Conan Exiles MIGHT work on PlayOnLinux https://www.playonlinux.com/en/app-3603-Conan_Exiles.html

How have you determined this? It makes a difference. I found this page on System76 website... the people who make Pop_OS. On that page they describe how to repair both the systemd-boot and GRUB bootloader and how to determine which you are using. I'm not sure your bootloader is "broken" since it boots Pop_OS, but maybe so.

I have found sometimes GRUB will offer an option to access UEFI Settings (in other words: your BIOS). But that doesn't stop me from accessing UEFI/BIOS with the regular methods.

Try @brickwizard's steps above. If you get an error on sudo update-grub... let us know what the error says. This should be easier than following the complicated steps on System76's website.

You really should not have needed to create a boot partition... there already was one (from Windows) that should have been used by Pop_OS in a UEFI installation. They should share that partition. If your Windows was a UEFI install (probably) and you did a Legacy install for Pop_OS, this can often cause problems. This may be where you went wrong.

Not all Linux distros require you to create a SWAP partition. I have no idea about Pop_OS. Since you can boot and run Pop_OS, I don't think that SWAP is your problem.
