You may have noticed @captain-sensible jump in with a reminder just now,

click on the menu [LM icon on bottom far left]
go up to all applications and click, scroll down till you find timeshift double click to open and follow instructions to set it up

then you have two last things to do.. first go back to page 1 and edit the title to include "Solved"
and second now your here don't disappear from the forums do look in you will be surprised what you can learn just by reading other peoples problems

Yes, I thought about notifying him and decided to wait until we get completely through this. I'll then restart one more time before contacting them.

User Home Directories: Exclude All Files is automatically selected. Do I go with that? I don't know what any of this means yet so I appreciate your patience.

sorry for the delay i have moved from my office to my laptop in the lounge

home directories are personal files [pics/mail/documents etc.] as it is a new installation go with the defaults

about 20 years when I first became a hypnotherapist. Didn't want you to think I was weird or anything.

I can recommend hypnotherapy [if your ready to open up a can of worms] - i've been through it .

Also post occasionally here :

Thank you for that and for all your assistance! I'll certainly be lurking here as I have much to learn. My goal is to become proficient enough to encourage and help others to break free. I'm looking forward to learning. Wishing you all the best....I'm very grateful.

Congratulations you now own your computer lock stock and operating system Enjoy the journey ahead

Wow !

Great things have happened in my absence.

Congratulations @brickwizard ...Well Done !

@Condobloke & @wizardfromoz

thanks, but the congratulations should go to the OP, although it took 48 hrs to sort what what would probably taken me 45 minuets if I had the machine on my bench, the OP followed my lead and did not get flustered/ annoyed as many do when you try to help, It was a pleasure to guide her into the wonderful world of Linux

Congratulations @brickwizard ...Well Done !
Ditto and thank you as I have been following this saga and learning about inxi thus making it easier for me to sort any hassles with Goldie who runs Mint 19.
@CarolQ
Enjoy your path with Mint 20.2

@Nik-Ken-Bah
now you know why I use inxi here is a list of the most common commands
-A Show Audio/sound card information.
-C Show full CPU output, including per CPU clockspeed.
-D Show full hard Disk info, not only model, ie: /dev/sda ST380817AS 80.0GB
-F Show Full output for inxi. Includes all Upper Case line letters, plus -s and -n.
Does not show extra verbose options like -x -d -f -u -l -o -p -t -r unless you use that argument.
-G Show Graphic card information (card, x type, resolution, glx render, version).
-I Show Information: processes, uptime, memory, irc client, inxi version.
-l Show partition labels. Default: short partition -P. For full -p output, use: -pl (or -plu).
-n Show Advanced Network card information. Same as -Nn. Shows interface, speed, mac id, state, etc.
-N Show Network card information. With -x, shows PCI BusID, Port number
remember there is always a space between inxi and the -*
If you have tried -Fnx it is for personal use only not pasting to forums, If at any time you need to do a full report to cut & paste then add z to the end and this filters out the more sensitive details, so it becomes -Fnxz
