Looks quite interesting, thanks for sharing!

I setup my own instance using Whoogle, the search results are actually way better than with that other opensource search engine I had found. I'm going to be doing some more testing with it by using it for a month to see if I can use that as an alternative to for DDG and Brave Search so that I have a third search engine to use.

LOL So, I just visited the site and did a test search. I'm connected with a VPN, so it threw up a CAPTCHA.

I'll give you three guesses as to which CAPCHA service they're using.

Okay, I'll save the bits and just disclose that they're using Google's reCAPTCHA.

EDIT: Wait, it may be that they're using Google and Google is just throwing up the error because of all the traffic coming from that IP address - the site's IP address.

Have you tried Yaacy?

I stopped using Google long ago because Google off it's own bat decided to block access to certain web sites for Australians...the strange thing is, they can't do the same in their own country.

Have you tried using a VPN or the TOR Browser?

I never heard of that until now, but after briefly viewing the description, it sounds like it's similar to Searx, but it's a better version of that. The only minor gripe is the demo page leads to a 404. I'll install it and play with it for a few days to get a full understanding of it.

I have tried it but without configuring it the search results are pretty useless and I did look at what I would have to configure and that would take a lot of time. Then I came across Whoogle here, and it got good search results without actually having to configure it and put hours of time into it.

've used Disconnect and Qwant in the past. While they both strive for online privacy, the problem is they aren't FOSS. Search engines like Searx are known for being privacy-protecting and FOSS.
Qwant has an extension for Firefox - you do want the Qwant Basic extension if you get the full version it will change your homepage

I use LibreWolf, which is a fork of Firefox and may not have that extension
