I was trying to install a newer version of Linux Mint from a USB Stick. Linux Mint 19.2 to Linux Mint 20.2. I was unable to upgrade using the update manager, so burned an ISO to a USB Stick. No matter what I do, I am unable to access the bios screen. I believe I have UEFI on this PC. I don't know how that affects the bios though. Pardon me, but I am 73, and I get a bit frustrated when I can't get something to work. I tried every possible key, from escape to the F keys and the shift key, nothing worked. I booted directly into Mint 9.2

I tried disconnecting the computer ( HP Pavilion 23 all in one ) and holding down the power switch while booting. That did bring me twice to a grey screen showing Linux Mint 9.2 and a few options. I was unable to enter anything however. There was a timer bar, saying I had 24 seconds to enter a choice. I have no idea what I had 24 seconds to do. I tried using the keyboard, but I could enter nothing, nor navigate using the navigation arrows. I did once get a MOK screen, in that I had the same problem there. There was no way to navigate or to hit the OK that appeared in brackets. I was unable to do anything, and had to power off the computer.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem, it is driving me nuts!

I believe HPs use F10 to enter the bios, but I can't be 100% sure. We stopped purchasing HP PCs and servers a long time ago.

I tried all the F keys, including F10 none worked nor the Escape or Shift keys, or the space bar. Thanks anyway!

to enter the bios on an "HP Pavilion 23 all in one"
switch on and imidiatly hold down F10 , you have to be quick as you only get a couple of seconds before it starts the boot sequence
Bwiz

Yep, the HP I was fixing for a friend uses F10 also for bios. But as brickwizard said you have to be quick. :)

I tend to push the power button with one hand and then use the other hand to rapidly press the correct F key over and over again.

reminds me of Grasshopper .. if you can snatch the pebble from my hand . Probably too old for most of you

Well I was sure F10 was it. As it turned out I had to first hit the escape key, then F9. But the biggest problem turned out to be my keyboard. Some of the keys were dead, so was not entering anything. It turned out that in the New edition of Linux Mint, the bluetooth was even worse. I gave it up, and moved to Zorin, which so far I am loving.

Glad you found what works for you :)
