Well, you can. You can also convert it in the opposite direction. The tool for doing this is known as 'alien' and this is an overview:

Me too. I actually mention that in the article. ;-)

NOTE: This won’t always work. The package you converted may not work, usually due to dependencies that can’t be satisfied. If it doesn’t work, you’ll have to look for other solutions.
 
Started using it about 7 years ago - had a Dell printer (from 2005) that came with a CD and it had an .rpm driver on it. Found Alien and converted the driver to .deb - still running that printer.

BTW If you search "Alien" and wizardfromoz, with our search facility, you'll see the occasions I have mentioned it over the last 4 years. :)

I have a very similar story about finding/using it. I've had pretty good luck with it.
