Hello
I am looking for a program where I can download Linux on my USB stick, but on the other hand I leave no traces on the foreign computer, it starts again as before after removing the stick.

That would be most any "live" instance of Linux.

So long as it was properly shut down, anything in the RAM will have been lost - leaving no traces. So long as you don't intentionally do anything to the existing OS on the computer, a proper shutdown should clear anything that you once wrote to volatile memory.

If used only for browsing files in the computer's disk where the Live USB is plugged in, then yes, any distro will do, however, if browsing the web, you can leave traces while in a Live USB. Tails won't; nor in the HDD neither in the "world wild(not a typo) web" which is what I thought OP was asking for.

They specifically mention only the foreign computer, which I took to mean only the computer they're plugged into. Which, so long as they shutdown properly - and don't go messing with the drive, any distro should do.

Emphasis on 'should'.

If they don't shut down properly, they run the risk of forensics being able to pull data from the RAM.

To download Linux onto a USB stick SO THAT THE USB STICK WILL BE BOOTABLE ON ANOTHER PC.....you will need to use an app/program something like Rufus or Balena to ‘burn’ the iso file to the usb stick.
(It may be a good idea to verify the download etc.. you will likely find instructions on the download page for the Linux download)

When it has finished, take the USB stick out.

At this point you would need to uninstall the app/program you used (Rufus etc)...and also get rid of the history in the browser you used. Tails would not keep history but you would probably need to install tails in the first place and also uninstall it after you finish.

I have to ask you, Why?...does the foreign computer belong to someone who is “not Linux friendly”.....like your Dad ?
