This should be an easy one to answer - can someone tell me the name of a good printer to work with my Linux Mint 18, and where I can find the right driver ?
HP printers are generally well supported in Linux overall. I have a compact, all in one HP DJ 3755. It works well wirelessly in Kubuntu 18.04, Kubuntu 20.04 and in Kubuntu 20.10. Wired drivers also exist in the Ubuntu repos, as well as the HPLIP resource. Being that the driver is in the Ubuntu repos, it is also supported in Mint.

I have been running various Linux distros for about 16 years and mostly Linux Mint for the past 4 or 5 years. I have always had very good results with HP printers. Dell and Lexmark printers were very problematic and I would not recommend them. My Canon Pixma MP160 works well with Linux Mint.
Recently I purchased a used HP Officejet J4580 All-in-One printer and it worked right out of the box.
I just plugged it in and started printing! Fax, scan, copy, print all work fine.
I am running Linux Mint 19.3 right now but this machine has been 'upgraded' from 17.* on up through to 19.3.
Another vote here for HP printers here. I have used my P1102 with linux mint 18.x, 19.x, and now 20 and it has worked great. I have also used HP P1006 printer with no problems

I use and HP printer. I run Centos, Linux Mint 19 and 19.3 , Ubuntu 18.4 and 20.4, also OpenSuse 15.2 and all come with the appropriate drivers. I have not had any problems with printing. So yes a big vote for HP printers.
