I searched the internet a lot and found the code, but

They are not saying that such a scheme does not exist.

Is there any other solution?

Gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon

G'day ArdaKC, and Welcome to linux.org

Do you have Timeshift set up ?

It would be a simple matter to Restore a previous snapshot.

What has gone wrong to necessitate you needing to reset default panel settings ?

You could try creating a new user backing up the cinnamon configuration of that new user than restoring that configuration to your user. Why would you want another method if it works using gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon?

I just learned something new, just the other day - like two days ago.

With the current, and previous, version of Lubuntu all you need to do is delete the panel's config. Then, you reboot and it automatically generates the default config for you anew.

So, it works with LXPanel and LXPanelQT (I think that's the name - I don't use 20.04 on a regular basis).

It may just work with Cinnamon. Back up the panel's config folder (or just rename it) and reboot. Maybe it'll reset it as the default. If not, you can just name it back or restore your backup.

I did not know this until just a day or two ago.

OP hasn't been seen for 4 days, so it is likely not a big issue?

@ArdaKC if you are still in need of us, I would repeat the question from @Condobloke

What has gone wrong to necessitate you needing to reset default panel settings ?

Maybe. I have not tested this:

1. Right-click an empty area of the panel
2. Click Troubleshoot
3. Click Restore all settings to default

@ArdaKC Have you tried what @stan mentioned in post #5?
Very simple and easy and worth a try I should think.

that worked for me. it was very odd, I have found CInnamon on Fedora 34 to be really solid. then today for no reason, after suspending on leaving work and resuming at home, all the panels had disappeared!
I suspect this was caused by my relatively recent adding of the Spice manager applet and installing a few applets.

You can also restart Cinnamon. CTRL + ALT + ESC will/should restart it. I've found restarting it solves a ton of issues, so it's my first step.

in this case, rebooting (which I needed to do after a dnf update) didn't solve the problem, so a factory reset to the defaults was needed.

thanks for the suggestion, had I not found this reset to defaults, I was going to poke around in the .config directory. I think I had to do that in the past when this happened before, so this was much easier.

In Linux Mint Cinnamon....to reset cinnamon...

Hit Alt+F2, type r and hit enter.
