Earlier, my settings disappeared and I couldn't change any settings in Ubuntu so I had to reinstall the OS to fix the problem. Does anyone know why this happens or what could of caused it?

Thank you for your responses!

What do you mean your settings disappeared? In what way did they disappear?

Do you mean that you were unable to find, or start Ubuntu's system settings application? or that some of your settings/configuration files were missing? Or something else?

Which version of Ubuntu are you using? Which desktop environment? And what actually happened? The more detail you can give, the more likely it is that someone will be able to give you an accurate answer.

When I tried connecting to Bluetooth, the settings would not come up so I decided to check and see if I could access it from somewhere else, but I couldn't. I couldn't change any settings, like WiFi or the background because the settings would not come up when I clicked on change background and change WiFi settings. So yes, I couldnt start the Ubuntu system settings and I couldn't find it anywhere in my system. I am running Ubuntu 20.04. I don't know which desktop environment I am running, but I think it is Gnome, I am just using the default installation from the Canonical website.
Thank you for the support!

Mate did you end up installing any of those Flatpaks you were talking about here

https://linux.org/threads/do-flatpa...ve-to-update-them-manually.30429/#post-100151

or run a series of major updates, &c.?

so I had to reinstall the OS to fix the problem.

So is it all working currently?

If so, install Timeshift from your Software Centre, run it and take an on demand screenshot of your current setup so that you can roll back if need be.

Cheers

I did run some updates and I download gimp. My guess is that it could of been an update. Thank you for the feedback, I did hear about Time shift in the other question I posted.
