Looking For A New Laptop! Recommendations?

Currently have the worst laptop since ... a long time: USB connection loss, bad cooling and bad CPU performace. If you want that, get a Dell XPS Now they have many, many versions, mine's a Euro spec, small sized Dell on itself is great though, all works fine, except this laptop

Can I completely stop memory caching?

It may not matter, as on Windows, and it seems even more on Linux, the concept is preferred by the vendor, so they won't make it look like you don't need any caching. The problem is: some computers really need it. And then it must work. But I ran my Windows (several) without memory caching, and...

My SSD has Died and No Backups.

I still have this project (many actually) to re-install my PC in about 1 hour ... and it is a Windows. I mean, re-inatll the OS and all my applications. So, for Linux, that should go faster - I guess. They key to it is practice, and scripting. Doesn't matter if Linux or Windows. And, a regular...

Can I completely stop memory caching?

To this day I still can't understand the logic of memory caching. For me, caching is a good solution, for underpowered machines. That means, machines low on memory. Or, high on usage, you can also look at it this way. I don't get the concept of : not all memory is used, we can't do that, we...

Anyone switching back to Windows 11 for this awesome "feature"?

So ... Windows always had many option to mess up ... their own functions as well. It often doesn't take a lot, and certainly not if one has some imagination, like me. For example, one can use taskkill.exe to stop processes. Standard Windows feature. C:\Windows\System32\taskkill.exe

    grepping files

    grepping files

Maybe ... but I need to look at the functions. I'm aware of AWK, and I actually use it a lot, but often with the default actions. Need to have a look.

    grepping files

That's OK if you want to count but I'm only interested if all of the words appear in a file, or not. If not all words are present in a file, it's no good.

Solved How much memory is too less memory? Is there even such a thing?

Some servers just have many slots so if you have 8 slots with 128 GB ... But anyway, I would use the rule that if you often use more than 50% of the maximum memory you have, it's time to double. For Windows, these days, the good base is 32GB For Linux ... it depends, but you can do so much...

What was your favorite version of Windows (if any)?

That's a good one as well. I did hate XP because of the soft focus color usage

What was your favorite version of Windows (if any)?

I liked Windows 7 a lot, but I can't explain exactly why. It has something to do with the look and feel. Windows 10 is worse as it has disappearing sroll-bars and borderless windows which are a pain.

    grepping files

I was wondering how to perform the below query using Bash code, but I don't need all code written out exactly, just get the idea how to : The question is: I'm looking for any file, or files, that contain multiple words. I don't need the name of files of which have a line that contains all of...
