Hi, I might be posting this in the wrong place.
1. Thanks rob for that explanation its was really interesting.
2. I am not new to computers, but I am lost when it comes to the intricacies of systems and technology of the computers.
I recently acquired a used Toshiba laptop. It has what looks like windows 7 currently on it, and it had a few extraneous programs on it. I am thinking about possibly just wiping the hard drive completely and installing linux, but I don't know where to begin. I need the laptop for school so I need to be able to use the internet and some form of writing program.
hey guys, i am new on Linux, can you please tell me whether i can install linux in my windows computer and use them in it without any harm on any side i mean windows or linux? thanks.
Please start a new thread.

Hey, I have a question. Are Linux and Ubuntu the same thing? Or are they different OS. btw Im still new.
You will find a wealth of information on the web about the difference between the Linux kernel and GNU/Linux distributions.
Like flunwyc said, a quick google search led me too:
I am non-experienced for linux systems but I am very keen on learning it.. So the questions are that what are your suggestions and before learning CEH, should I know linux very well ?
