    Pb: cannot start a service.
    OS:Ubuntu 10.04.4
Login via ssh as root. To launch an app: Run "xxx.sh", OK. Run "start-stop-daemon --start –background --exec xxx.sh", Ok too. (checked with ps and netstat.)
But run "service service_script start" without any effect (in service_script, do_start() contains only "start-stop-daemon --start –background --exec xxx.sh" which has been proved workable above). And the script can be started as service at other PCs of Ubuntu.
What can the problem be? How can I get the failure msg, such like logs, in the system? Well I configured daemon.log but seems no msg related logged.

Thanks for any possible clues and helps.
