    I am aware of using;
    Code:
    lp foo.txt
    to print a file from shell but how do you choose or connect to a printer? I can use CUPS to select a printer when I'm in X but I would like to be able to do this from the terminal.

    I've read putting this
    Code:
    export PRINTER=HP_PRINTER_whatever
    in the ~/.bashrc file but that didn't work. Also, I believe that is used for setting a default printer rather than just connecting to a printer in general.
