in windows I can map a network drive to make it send data, files, pictures or whatever I want to my iPad and then back, it will end up in that folder

You can map SSHFS, NFS, GlusterFS(via NFS), Samba (CIFS), and probably others that I am failing to remember right now. Do you know what type the "drive" was?

not really, it just is kinda a clone to the drive on my MINI and when I drop something in (on my windows machine) it nearly instantly wi/fi's it to my iPad
