Most of the above was offensive. But he did have some points, why do we fight over what distribution is better? It should be Linux vs. Mac vs. Windows and not Red hat vs. Debian vs. Arch vs. etc. The point is that our system is all GNU/Linux. But, I HAVE been able to run microsoft office using wine and playonlinux. Many people just try one version of linux and think that is all there is. We need to show our true colors. What do you think?

Although SOME of the things mentioned are true the biggest one would certainly number 4. I attend university and actually don't have that big of an issue with software. Most of the time there is some sort of open source (or free software) program that will do the same thing as the proprietary software does. That being said, not ALL of those are covered.

In my experiences, WINE and PlayOnLinux are a waste of time. I can seem to get anything to run using them. However, I know that many people have gotten things running with them; I just have had no luck.

I very much disagree with numbers 2, 3, and 5. Last time I checked, I have a life... I've been running GNU/Linux for 4 years now and still have friends.... ;) I have had no issues with the Linux community being crazy or mean. I mean, I think we are pretty great! Windows is not nicer. Just because it looks nice doesn't mean its nicer. In my experiences, windows has been a crashy, buggy, and virus magnet. I believe that GNOME 3, KDE, and XFCE (with certain themes) look great; but they work. In fact, I've run a crap ton of GNU/Linux (and BSD) system and only a few had major issues. It was more of a taste issue I had with most. Even MacOS X runs better than windows!

Thats my rant and the moral of the story is that we shouldn't be comparing operating systems anymore. Some people like windows, some like Mac and some (the best of people) like GNU/Linux. Operating systems are all about taste, in my opinion.

Truthfully, I doubt the mathafakka who wrote that thing is as productive as he implies. This - sort of - article is very counterproductive.

From what depths of hell has he come from? I mean, he prefers windows servers over Linux's, there is clearly something wrong with this guy.

I think that if this guy wrote an article about why he does not use Linux he should give reasons why he specifically uses Windows and not Mac OSX.

Guy knows nothing anyway. His highest achievements are, in order "Distinguished" lecturer, author, U.S. policy advisor, and lastly computer scientist.

His biography is a narcissist's wet dream even claiming he is "a top expert on saving and creating jobs." He lauds his journalism background and appearances on CNN but nothing about any actual technology or computer science projects hes worked on or awards he's received.

The best part is for all his supposed "cybersecurity" and "cyberwarfare advising" he mentions in his bio, he actually makes no technical or security claims regarding why Windows is better just "its nicer" and "its easier" these are the arguments people without information on the subject bring to the table.

In summary, this guy is a journalist not a tech expert. Neither I nor anyone else should really care what he has to say.

It's an intentionally inflammatory article. The idea is that it gets lots of clicks and comments and gets reposted everywhere...

I agree. It's a journalistic technique. Years ago a woman used to write contentious articles on a local paper. People used to go nuts. I don't know that she meant the things ---but it produced a good response.
