I've just recently installed Ubuntu, and so far I'm loving it. It's quite user friendly for myself. What is your favorite Linux distro and why exactly?

Fedora on a desktop/laptop system. RHEL, OEL, or CentOS on the server side.

The distribution (as far as it's up to date) doesn't matter so much. You have the same software everywhere. I mean, it does matter but there's no big difference as in Windows 7 vs Windows Vista.

Absolutely Gentoo, a brilliant distro. Very simple (which does not mean easy) and linear in its structure (one of the best distribution for the organization and management of files under / etc). Perhaps heavy use everywhere (due to the need to compile each package) but ideal for a desktop PC.
