I have an ASUS X401A, I was running EOS on my laptop, but then rebooted after installing and updating a bunch of stuff. When I tried to boot I got
    Starting preload: preload [OK]
    (and some things before it)
I am able to get into tty3 by Alt+Ctrl+F3. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you installed any nvidia driver or other graphics driver? Because I had a bad experience with this guys and elementary OS... although its a good distro.

A simpler solution is to use a LiveCD to copy off anything you want to save and then do a new, clean, install.
    wzhigaylo and CesarCara like this.

I ended up getting my files with a live cd and reinstalling, its seemed much easier and saved time.
