-I have an VPS with Ubuntu 12.04 Server incl. GUI

-there is an application (.exe) running under wine, need a gui and internet connection

-I can't use the autostart function, because the login starts after the login and it is very important for me that the application (.exe) runs without a manual login from me

-it should start instantly after my VPS Provider restarts the server

-I tried to start the application with the rc.local, but I think it doesn't work because the gui isn't running at this time :-(

    do you have any tipps??

perhaps you could create a script that starts an X server (very basic, like TWM) and it then starts the application.

All of this has to be done as root though.
