Tizen is a standards-based, open source operating system designed for a wide range of device categories, from smartphones to in-vehicle infotainment and beyond. To achieve cross-platform flexibility, Tizen uses HTML5 as the primary environment for application development, allowing developers to maintain a single codebase for multiple architectures. In addition, Tizen provides a native API for architecture-specific application development.
The Tizen project resides within the Linux Foundation and is governed by a Technical Steering Group. The Technical Steering Group is the primary decision-making body for the open source project, with a focus on platform development and delivery, along with the formation of working groups to support device verticals.
The Tizen platform provides a rich set of services and APIs that include the application framework, along with content, location, messaging, multimedia, network social and system services.
