SystemTray & network state

I have installed minimal Linux yesterday, therefore I want small applications for keep this in minimal state. And network-manager is too big for me... I want only:

watch -n 1 cat /proc/net/wireless

in tray icon. Exists?

Most distributions have a simple networking daemon which allows you to connect wifi with wpasupplicant - so I assume you already have that set up?

To watch the proc fs for signal strength using your command you could write it into a conky script and just have it display in a corner of the screen. No idea as to how to do that as I don't use conky.

I want only real-time connection checking such as:
watch -n 1 cat /proc/net/wireless
in lxpanel - SystemTrayIcon... (Without network-manager.)

Well unless something already exists you'd probably have to do that yourself. i.e. write a script.

Or you could just use wicd which is a lighter weight wireless/network connection manager.

I'm programmer - I'm able to create this application. But I ask here - exists any applet network-state indicator for SystemTray?

Try: RIGHT clicking the panel and choose "Add Plugins" then choose "Network Monitor".

But this applet not show signal quality in TrayIcon...

I believe the System tray just shows running programs which have been minimised. I do not believe that it shows other "applets".
