Adding text on top of LibreWriter document...anyone know?

I have created a document that is an invoice in LibreWriter. It's got a graphic and a lot of lines to be filled in.
Can anyone advise me how to go about adding text to each line without pushing the lines and other text to the right? Back in my dark, dark Microsoft days I created a Word document and was able to overlay a transparent
text box on top of each line provided for manual entry of data on such a form. But I am at a loss as to how to do it in LibreWriter. I've read and re-read the HELP descriptions in LibreWriter for fields, text boxes etc and I can't figure it out. Help!

You can insert a table, but unfortunately, its table styles do not include an invisible table. There are always visible lines.

I'm not really wanting to add a table. What I am trying to do is create an invoice with horizontal lines and on each line fill in information like this:
Before filling it in: NAME________________________
ADDRESS_____________________
After filling it in:
NAME John Doe________________
ADDRESS__123 Main Street________
I know this can be created in Adobe and the ones I have seen were real slick with a blank that you could tab to and then just type in the info you wanted to go in the blank. In my MS Windows days I created this invoice as a Word document and simply overlayed a TRANSPARENT text box over each line and then I could type in whatever I wanted in each blank. But I have not been able to figure out if that can be done in LibreWriter.

I have also tried to insert text boxes and remove the "3D" frame around each one but whatever I type does not remain visible after I proceed to the next text box so I must be doing something wrong.

I have exported the form I made up in PDF thinking maybe that would make a difference but whatever I type in the blank ends up moving the horizontal line and all text to the right of what I type, further to the right, which is not what I am wanting.

So any guidance is most appreciated!

Not sure at all if this is what you are looking for but below is a link to LibreOffice templates. I have also included Openoffice templates link. If Openoffice seems to be better for your needs, it can be installed on Linux
http://templates.libreoffice.org/
http://www.openoffice.org/download/common/instructions.html

And do not ask me why but it will not allow me to link Openoffice templates...but it is

Well, it is Monday...

Could it just be solved by toggling your Insert (Ins) button as opposed to the Delete (Del) button on your keyboard?

Arochester...you did it again. Thanks.
It's not quite the same as typing in fields because as I type it removes the underlining. However I found that if I select the underlined character ( U on the Librewriter task bar) I can retain the underlined blank look while also retaining the justification of my formatting.

It will do for now and I thank you for your help.
