Sup people, I'm brand new to Linux, coming from Windows 8. After reading up about Linux and its many distros I finally decided to go for it and learn about the Linux community, commands and, generally, gaining more skill with computers..so to speak. I decided to go for the Netrunner distro, which is similar to Kubuntu, Ubuntu and Linux Mint.
I am interested in cryptography and programming with C++(some Python).
I am new at both, and am currently reading beginner material on each.
My main reason for coming to Linux is because Windows is too boring. Everything is set up for you determinately. It's kind of like being born in a world where, at first glance, everything is awful, until you really seek for alternatives. (Lifes predicament!)

I hope to meet new people here who can assist me, and also share their insights with me. Assuming 99.5% of the members here have the same interests, I don't suppose this is an issue.
очень спасибо !

Interesting. I feel comfortable with Linux and feel my next major step should be program. I've been wondering if I should learn Python.

Python is a good language to start off with, from what I've read and from personal experience. Although I don't know why, but I think I'm going to go for C first.
