Hi I'm new to Linux.org and Linux itself. I'm a Windows user & a huge Gamer / Editor. I'm looking to purchase a laptop soon and wanted some opinions I was looking at a Samsung ATIV Book 15.6' & a Razer Blade / Razer Blade Pro. I'll be installing BackTrack as using that as my OS. I just want some opinions on what laptop would be best.

My little HP Mini Netbook can run Kali Linux just fine and I've had no problems using Wifi.

I guess it depends on what tools you're trying to use. I'm not sure if my Broadcom Wifi has limitations for things like Packet Sniffing. I have successfully ARP Spoofed with it using Ettercap.

For similar operating systems, BackBox might be worth a look.

Alright well I'm just gonna snag this one Samsung laptop. 8G Ram, 750GB HD, intel i5 processor, Processor Speed; 3.2 GHz she should do the job.

I'm really leaning towards Exploits, vulnerabilities etc..

I have done a "SneakerNet" attack walking over to another computer and manually loading my Payload/Exploit from a USB and launching it.

My Netbook was able to handle running Metasploit and listened for the malware to call back on to my IPaddress on the LAN. Fun stuff. I owned the victim computer remotely at that point. I killed a vital memory process causing a blue screen of death crash.

NOTE: I'm only practicing this in the college lab or at home lol.

About the only major hardware difference I can think of to look for is the NIC for packet sniffing. Or farther Wireless range lol.
