It's very interactive and goes from very simple basics up to your first scripts and programs. It's very addictive as well. Also these forums and google will be a friend in your journey.

A must have book for new Linux users is Running Linux by Matthias Dalheimer and Matt Welsh. Learn to use the Bash shell - command line and shell scripts.
