Hello everyone I am new to Linux and need some guidance. I have seen and used Zorin 6 and liked it but I am having trouble finding a good download of that version. Also I have heard that only versions prior to 6 are stable. I have installed Zorin 6.3 on my HP Envy m6-1105 with bad results. I am done with Windows and am open to many distributions of Linux but I want something stable and versatile. Any advice would be much appreciated.

What is happening? Why is it bad?

Go to DistroWatch, then to the ZorinOS page where you can download earlier releases by seeing their respective pages where it says "Distribution Release" towards the bottom.

Thanks for your reply. The screen has flickering and lines and gets progressively worse to the point of being unusable. I have two other drives for this machine one with Windows 7 and the other has Windows 8 and no problems other than it's Windows so I know it is not a problem with hardware. So what I am looking for is a good download of Zorin 6 which I know is stable on two other machines that my father now has. Also any advice in general about Linux including other distributions is much appreciated.

Thanks, Jerry

HP Envy m6 1105dx Video Card

Do you know what video card you have?

AMD Radeon HD 7660G Discrete-Class graphics. I think it is actually embedded into the processor chipset if I am not mistaken.

Debian with KDE desktop should work, Debian focuses on stability. (looks like Zorin uses KDE)
