cant install any hardware on my laptop

need some advice, i have a Compaq-Presario-CQ60-Notebook-PC, running o linux zorin ubuntu.

250gb hd 2 gb ram .

my computer has 3 usb ports and nothing i plug into them will ever show up or get detected, accept for usb stick. can get my wireless wifi adapter to show or my external hard drive or my digital camera, is there anything i need to install drivers etc?

nothing i plug in works and it really grinding my gears!

See if you can get the package manager to download the broadcom driver. That and a few dependencies should get the wifi going. As for other devices it could be driver issues as well. Did you boot up with the device attached or did you plug them in. Sometimes Linux needs to detect them on boot. I have Mint Linux 15 running on a Compaq V5101US and everything works! I had a Toshiba Satelite P755 running CentOS 6.3 Stella and needed the broadcom driver installed via the package manager to get the wireless going there but used that bad boy at work until I got the new hard drive in it needed. Still considering reloading it.:)
