Hey everyone!
Just started using Linux this week.
Been an android addict and got into rooting, flashing, and learning some terminal stuff, and started getting more knowledgeable about the inner-workings of the phone. I didn't realize how awesome Linux was until I came across an app that teaches how to boot Ubuntu 11.xx over android. I was stunned at how the lxde and gnome desktops looked and ran.
Now here I am trying to try every distro, made some live USBs...its on. Looking forward to being part of another great community!

Hi, I'm new here also but learning quick and finding the community great - Enjoy :) Welcome.

Welcome, indeed. I would say the first thing you should be aware of is that distro-hopping can become an addiction. And the only support group you'll find is a local Linux User Group, which is made up of other addicted distro-hoppers who aren't necessarily interested in recovering from their addiction. Glad to have you on board ;)

Heya Razrblade - welcome to Linux forum.

I'm an avid android guy.. but haven't put ubuntu or any other distro on my phone yet ;) Maybe soon though.

Hello RAZRblade, Welcome to LinuxForum!

It's nice to know that you've started using Linux, Do you run it on your PC? or is it only the smartphone that runs on it?

I've got it on both. Tried the android 4.0 distro on my laptop and that was pretty sweet.. at the moment though ive got mint 12 on the laptop.

No worries about hopping. I'd flash a different rom or fastboot it every other night :)

What phone do you have?

That's great!, my phone runs the Maemo(Debian) OS - Nokia N900. I've been experimenting with Nitdroid which is a custom android ROM for N900.

I've ran Ubuntu, MER and a couple of other OS's on mine, using multi boot.

Gonna download that now so its done by the time I'm done working. Whatever I decide to go with I'm gonna try to get on my phone also, then use box to keep them in sync. Just gotta figure out how to make it bootable on the phone
