Netbook Distributions.

I thought I'd open a topic for distros specially developed for netbooks.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but I've heard good things about Ubuntu Netbook Edition. The Unity interface is designed for the smaller screen, looks pretty nice, and has stuff like Facebook and Twitter integrated. Also, the Ubuntu Software Centre appears to be stocked with most of the apps you'll want to run on your netbook.

I'm not a fan of JoliOS to be honest. I used it and just couldn't bring myself to making it my OS for my netbook. I'm considering Xubuntu or Linux Mint for my netbook though.

I think sooner or later the forum staff would add a section that works for laptops, but this can work out as well. I'm new to the whole Linux thing, but I think i'll go with any laptop good for newbies of the Linux software.

I did download and install Jolli cloud, but I didn't like it at all! I felt that it removed functionality from the netbook and basically turned it into something too dependent upon being online. I felt it had no substance.

I soon replaced it with the Ubuntu Netbook Remix, and LOVED IT! I really liked the sleek design, as well as the inbuilt apps and functionality. Since I use my netbook back and forward to work on the train, with no internet, having offline software was a big plus for me.

Xubuntu and Lubuntu are very lightweight distros that work well using small amount of resources.

Arch Linux with Mate or Razor-qt. Or even KDE-netbook.

I've mostly been running Crunch Bang Linux. It's been great for my HP Mini that originally came with WinXP

Crunch Bang is built on top of Debian and uses OpenBox Window Manager. It has a right click menu plus many preconfigured shortcut keys listed under a Conky display.
