LiteSpeed Software

Has anyone ever used LiteSpeed? If so, what do you think of it? I've operated it for around 2 months now and I can say it made a big difference to the speed of my client's websites, much faster than Apache in my opinion.

I haven't set it up, but my host uses it and I'm surprised at how fast it is than Apache. If I ever set up a server, that's what I'm going to use :)

Yes, I do personally highly recommend it. It is $14 per month though, which does seem like a lot for what you actually get. The software is only $4 a month cheaper than the actual VPS...

Gee, that's expensive. I heard they have a free version though, what's the limitations on that?

Some people say that the Apache can be also fast and it depends what kind of configuration you made. The site speed is also influenced from other elements such as, browser cache and the size of your photos. If you have Wordpress site I would recommend the W3C Total Cache plugin, it can make the website real faster.

Apache is good for small sites but I heard nginx is much faster for high-traffic sites.

By the way, W3CTC actually made my WordPress sites slower, and cached things like the admin bar, which made it show up for users who weren't supposed to see it. I just use CloudFlare now for performance and it's much faster than that crappy cache plugin.

Is nginx free? How does it compare to lightspeed? I mean in terms of stability. I am more concerned with stability than speed. No point in having something that runs super fast and crashes every now and then.

nginx is indeed free, it's litespeed you have to pay for. I hear all three (Apache, nginx, litespeed) are pretty stable when configured properly.
