Linux.org doesn't really have a reason for you to sign up as of yet... what you see here today is just the beginning of what we have planned.
Consider this version an "alpha release". In this release many of the more interesting features of the site have been disabled. Over time, scheduled rollouts will enable social features to the site which will make the it more interactive and community driven.
Once we have our social features set up, you'll want to join the party. If you sign up for our newsletter we'll let you know when the next version rolls out!
