GoDaddy Turns to Windows Hosting, Mar 22, 2006

Microsoft announced on Tuesday that Web hosting and domain name provider GoDaddy is transitioning its approximately 4.5 million domains from a Linux platform to the Microsoft Solution for Windows-based Hosting.

Open source software developer Red Hat, Inc. (redhat.com) announced on Wednesday the headlining speakers for their first annual Red Hat Summit 2005. The conference will be held in New Orleans from June 1-3 and joins various members of the open source community, including community contributors, developers, customers and partners.

Web hosting provider Hostway (hostway.com) announced on Tuesday that it has added support for PHP5 on all its Linux shared hosting plans, as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora Core on all of its Linux root dedicated servers.

According to a report by research and analysis firm Netcraft , the main SCO Group Web site was down for an extended period on Monday, while several related domains were taken offline as well.

Central Command (centralcommand.com) announced yesterday the immediate availability of Vexira Antivirus for Linux, an antivirus defense system used to protect Linux-based servers.

The solution features configurable path protection, e-mail notification of viruses, options to repair, rename, or delete infected files, automatic Internet updating, virus scan archives, a command line scanner, scalable concurrent scanning, and heuristic detection of new macro viruses.

VeriSign (verisign.com) announced plans yesterday to migrate over 2,000 servers to the Red Hat (redhat.com) Enterprise Linux platform.

The migration to Linux has begun with VeriSign’s naming and directory services business unit and the deployment of Oracle on Linux for various corporate applications.
