Lycoris today announced the release of Desktop/LX 1.4, the fifth release of its Linux desktop operating system. Desktop/LX 1.4, formerly known as Desktop/LX Update 4, features an enhanced desktop powered by KDE 3.2.3.

Lycoris unveiled its new OS for the tablet PC, Desktop/LX Tablet Edition, into the hands of tablet manufacturers and resellers this week. Seen as a giant step into a new market for the Linux software company responsible for the award winning Desktop/LX OS, Tablet Edition gives OEMs and vertical markets access to an inexpensive operating system capable of running on the Tablet PC platform. “For example, a retailer can now opt for the less expensive Desktop/LX Tablet Edition on their tablets and save over $100 per unit on the floor,” remarks Jason Spisak, Vice President of Market Development of Lycoris,.“and that directly affects the bottom line.”
