Smoking gun by: Voltar Smith
I read this article with an open mind. It was well written and interesting. However, one question keeps occuring to me. "If GNU/Linux has lower start-up cost, why do people prefer Microsoft windows software for their desktop application? I use both. I am a new user of the GNU/Linux software and I am having fun learning to use it. My experience is with Ubuntu, desktop and server. I see little difference using desktop applications. Both platforms work well, each has its good points and bad points. I do find the server fun to learn to configure. I do not understand the vile speech from GNU/Linux users concerning Microsoft. The market does not lie. No one forces anyone to buy their product. You can buy bare bone computers and install your prefered software, most people that I know install a Microsoft product. The choice is made not by Microsoft or GNU/Linux, but by the customer, and that choice is most often Microsoft for whatever reason.
PS: the comand line is fun, but not for everyone.

new version of windows allow commandlines.

The article is quite clear. Consumers were not given a choice ... Windows is mostly pre-installed on the system.

Why would a hardware manufacturer apologize to MS (for displaying a GNU/Linux OS)?
