*yawn* by: pinniped
Why are stories of Linux viruses and such soooo boring? Maybe it's because the viruses don't really do anything - it's as exciting as "Waiting for Godot".

If someone could 0wn a Linux box that would be great - a bot server that has a very high uptime, isn't plagued by viruses, and probably has numerous very useful tools already installed. Anyone remember the news from a few weeks ago - an Apache flaw allowed Apache servers (Linux as well as MS) to serve worms to visitors. Strangely enough, the only possible target were WinDos machines. And MS claims Linux is not interoperable ...

Fear to loose income by: Janvanl
All major anti-something-software producers are now trying to tell us that Linux is spreading virusses, worms etc..
They must be very afraid for their income because only people that are very new to linux will believe this.
With firestarter or something similar and a little idea about security anyone can make a linuxbox secure enough to avoid these problems. Only the ones operating an Internetserver must know more to keep it secure but they definitely do not need Sophos to do it. There is a huge community out there to help you keep your server secure.

Steve, if you REALLY believe this... by: Fred McKinney
Stephen Withers, if you REALLY believe that Linux is just as prone to viruses as WinD'OH!s, I've got some oceanfront property right here in St. Louis I'd like to sell you.
