Re: Oh I realize they have to go thru the process... by: sakuramboo  they are doing the steps for the same reason they want to get OOXLM as an ISO standard. what happens is, they get denied and they are told why. then they will fix it and resubmit it. once they get in, then they get the bragging rights to say "we support open source (even though our fearless leader, mr. gates, hates open source and made that quite clear in his open letter to hobbiests)." the problem with MS doing all this is, the company is a flip flop company. some execs will say one thing while some of the workers will say the other. no one in the company can agree to one thing (just like the novell and microsoft pact). also, some people seem to forget that the licenses that MS submitted is only one of many that they have. MPL is their most open (as in collaborative) license that they have. i think that what needs to be done is a complete look, not just at the license (because anyone can write a license), but a look at just what projects are released under that license and what exactly are included when someone decides to develop for it. then they will get a clearer picture of what that license really means and how well is works.
