On osnews, and other tech related sites were really doubting that AMD would release anything. It looks like all the nay sayers were wrong.

I have to say this is really exciting. I never imagined looking at a ati card after dealing with a 9800 non pro from 2003-2006, when I replaced it with a nvidia 7600 gt. ATI's drivers are and were terrible, just plane awful, there were always things wrong with them, and they were as stable as kde 4.0 beta 1 and 2. With the news that the specs to the cards are going to be made available without nda means a lot to oss fans. Now we have a premier provider for the Linux/BSD/anything system for video cards.

Now bring forth the year of the Linux desktop!
