Prove it!

If Steve 'The Chair Thrower' Ballmer believes Linux infringes Microsoft's patents, then let him identify the infringements. Just saying it without proof is no guarantee of infringement (just ask SCO).

It appears Mr Ballmer has a selective memory.

If I remember correctly ( and it is well documented in the history books) Microsoft has itself been subject to rather questionable methodsfor aquiring it's programs, etc.
as far as most people are concerened, if it hadn't been for inscrupulous business methods and practices, Microsoft itself wouldn't be in the position it is now, in regards to company size AND legal woes.
If I were MS, it might be prudent to speak rather softly when accusing others of impropriety.

I imagine there are programmers out there that wrote code before Microsoft did theirs, Its called "Prior Art" and can result in a patent being stripped.

Its to boost Vista

Since Vista going to be launch soon and Microsoft knows they cant expect their new OS to hit market as how their previous releases did, Mr Balls mer again coming out with this tactic. This time around Linux is already matured and much more widely used. So the only way, as always being practice my MS is create FUD again and the difference now is directly attacking Linux which sounds desprate at this stage. If Vista fails to meet their target .. i m sure he is going to loose his "ball"!!
